WORKFORCE NOW IDENTIFIES EMPLOYMENT NEEDS
Workforce Now, a regional research initiative to identify current and future talent requirements in Southwest Florida, issued a second report providing information about employment gaps and skills desired by regional employers. It provides a summary of information gained from a 17-question survey and panel discussions by 13 executives representing the financial/insurance/banking, construction/manufacturing and tourism/hospitality sectors. All employers indicated a need for continuous learning and good written and oral communication skills, basic computer and business mathematics skills, critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork. The report is available at www.fgcu.edu/cob/reri, www.edison.edu and www.hodges.edu/newsevents. A regional summit to report on this year's study findings will take place Oct. 29.
