DUNK CITY - He found his way into our hearts, leading the FGCU eagles to the Sweet 16, now local basketball star Sherwood Brown is taking his talents off the court.

Brown and former Student Body President Peter Cuderman are leading once again with a new business: Excelitrex Business Solutions.

"Our business is going to provide whatever a business needs in general… if a business needs to go get their incorporation done, if a business needs a marketing plan, a business plan," explained Cuderman.

"I just wanted to come out up with a business to basically give back to the community," said Brown.

Brown and his partner are set to move into a Naples office on Monday.

They are teaming up and using the entrepreneurial lessons they learned at FGCU to better the community.

"The community in general has really helped me become more of a person more of a man and helped me grow," said Brown.

"A big part of it is what Sherwood did in athletics. It was competitive from day one so that transition is going to help him in the business world," said Cuderman.

Cuderman and Brown have been friends for years and now they plan on helping other small businesses get moving in a one-stop shop.

They both say the dream wouldn't have been possible without FGCU.

"The university has a new focus on entrepreneurialship in the fact that it's adding a lot of things that it didn't have 5 or 10 years ago, you are turning out people that are ready to start businesses on day one," said Cuderman.

As for Brown's future basketball career:

"I don't want to put the basketball down yet; I still have aspirations of being a professional basketball player, but I also have a little more to me than just sports," said Brown.
