Real Estate Career Forum - Spring 2014

The 5th annual Real Estate Career Forum was held on the evening of April 7 in Marieb Hall on the FGCU campus. The Forum was sponsored by the Lucas Institute for Real Estate studies, housed in the Lutgert College of Business, and directed by Professor Shelton Weeks. The objective of the Forum is to provide our students with an in-depth understanding of the career and investment opportunities available in real estate markets. As always, the Forum was well attended, with an audience of 60+ students from the Lutgert College and across campus.

The evening was opened by Professor Kenneth Lusht, who began with a brief review of recent milestones in the real estate program, followed by introductions of the evening's panelists: Carl Barraco of Barraco and Associates, Jerry Messonier of Lee and Associates, Tony Price of Priceless Realty, Tom Robinson of Well Fargo Bank, and Rachel Zucchi of RKL Appraisal and Consulting. Each provided their insights on the current state of the market, career paths in their segments of the market, and job search and interviewing strategies. The presentations concluded with the panelists' views on real estate investment opportunities in the current market environment. Following a question and answer period, the evening concluded with food and refreshments, and an opportunity for our students to meet and visit with our guests.
