The Small Business Development Center, in conjunction with The News-Press and the Cape
Coral Chamber of Commerce, is hosting three small business marketing seminars in November: Nov., 6th,
Marketing and Public Relations 101; Nov.,13th, Developing a Marketing Plan; and November 20th, Guerilla
Marketing...marketing for small businesses on a shoestring. All seminars will be held at the Waterford Ballroom
in Cape Coral from 8:30a.m.-11a.m. Cost is $25 per session (or $60 for all 3 sessions) and registration forms
are available at FGCU’s Small Business Development Center or if you call 335.0435, The News-Press will be
happy to mail one to you.
Nov. 6th - Marketing 101: M. Teresa Calkins, Market Development Director at The News-Press will
cover basic marketing principles including the pros and cons of advertising with various media. She will share
advertising principles and how to get the most for your bucks through co-ordinated marketing and advertising
initiatives. This session will include how to develop good working relationships with the press.
Nov. 13th - Developing a Marketing Plan: Hudson Rogers, Associate Dean and Professor of Business
at FGCU, will build on the first session and will guide attendees through the process of developing and
writing a marketing plan.
Nov. 20th - Guerilla Marketing...Marketing on a Shoestring: Dan Regelski, Director of FGCU’s
Small Business Center and Joann Haley, Marketing Communications Manager at The News-Press will
share ideas of how to get exposure for your business without spending a lot of money. They will discuss cause
marketing, partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.
