Using the Past Performance Information Retrieval System (PPIRS)

http://www.ppirs.gov/

The purpose of PPIRS is to assist federal acquisition officials in purchasing goods and services that represent the best value for the Government. From the PPIRS FAQ: “PPIRS is a shared data warehouse of report cards that detail a vendor’s record of performance on current (or completed) contracts.”

Past Performance Reports are required for products or services over $100,000 for the Department of Defense (DOD). Service and Information Technology (IT) reports are required if the total dollar value of any one contract totals $1,000,000 (DOD). Finally, System or Operation Support reports are required if the total dollar value of any one contract exceeds $5,000,000 (DOD).

Vendors are encouraged to update their past performance profile through the Central Contractor Registration process at www.ccr.gov. A vendor’s DUNS number and Transaction Partner Identification Number (TPIN) are needed to access PPIRS.

Note that not all of the 125 federal agencies are enrolled in the system. Some agencies use procedures not yet in an automated system (i.e. paper forms).
