Ambassador Francis Rooney, Chief Executive Officer, Rooney Holdings, Inc.

Ambassador Francis Rooney is the CEO of Rooney Holdings, Inc., and from 2005 to 2008, served as the American representative to the Vatican in his role as United States Ambassador to the Holy See. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Helmerich & Payne, Inc. (NYSE:HP), in Tulsa; Vetra Energy Group, in Bogota, Columbia; the Trust for the National Mall and the Center for the Study of the Presidency, both in Washington, D.C.; and the Advisory Board to the Panama Canal Authority, Republic of Panama.

Ambassador Rooney also serves on a number of Advisory Boards, including the University of Notre Dame, and most recently joined the Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation Board.

He was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to the prestigious Florida Council of 100, a think-tank that advises the Governor of Florida on issues facing the state. From 1991 to 1999, Ambassador Rooney was a director of the Young Presidents Organization, where he served as International President from 1997-1998. He also serves as a trustee to the Naples Community Hospital Healthcare System and the Naples Children and Education Foundation in Florida.

He received his A.B. Degree from Georgetown University in 1975 and graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with a Juris Doctorate in 1978. Ambassador Rooney is a member of the District of Columbia and Texas Bars.
