The Salvation Army

County: Glades, Hendry, Lee
Categories Social Services
Details:

The Salvation Army is a nonprofit agency whose mission is to meet human needs--physical, emotional, and spiritual--without discrimination. We have a large 215-bed shelter near downtown Fort Myers where we provide many different services to homeless and needy men, women, and children in our community. Some of the services we provide include several residential programs such as a Family Unit for homeless women and children, the Medical Respite unit and Healthcare for the Homeless Clinic, a large food services program serving 500-600 meals a day, and a food pantry that gives out emergency food baskets to those in need.

Job Description:

The area that most students like to volunteer is our Meals With Compassion program. It is open seven days a week from 5 pm to 7:00 pm. Every evening of every day of the year is an opportunity to assist serving meals to the homeless and needy. You could also work in our food pantry assisting with preparing food baskets from 9:00 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday. Many unique volunteer opportunities can be available based on the skills and talents you may wish to share with The Salvation Army. Please call or email with any questions.
