The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was founded in 1970 by parents of children with diabetes. Our mission is to find a cure for the disease and its complications through the support of research. In a typical year, 85% of our expenses support research and education about research. Since 1970 JDRF has provided over $500 million for diabetes research, more than any other nonprofit nongovernmental health agency in the world.
Each year the Naples/SW Florida branch holds a Walk to Cure Diabetes and a golf tournament. In addition, we keep families and the community informed about current research news and wellness topics. We also have plans for a Harley Ride and bowling tournament. |
| Job Description: |
Event planning: Help coordinate the Walk and golf tournament months prior to the events. Volunteer on event day.
Marketing/PR: Write and edit press releases and promotional material. Communicate with the media on behalf of JDRF. Help pubicize our events and JDRF. Write and edit newsletters. Help distribute information to volunteers.
Board/Committee Work: Determine what aspect of the organization you would like to help and make a difference and serve on that committee. Board and committee meetings are in the evening.

Upcoming Events:
We have a gala scheduled for February 17th, 2007, at the Ritz
Carlton.
Walk to Cure Diabetes (on FGCU campus) tentatively set for April 21st, 2007.
