Hillmyer-Tremont Endowed Scholarship Fund at Florida Gulf Coast University

FORT MYERS, FL - On April 13, 2001 Dr. William C. Merwin, President, Florida Gulf Coast University announced a $100,000 gift and a formal agreement was signed to establish a scholarship fund through the Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation, Inc. from the Hillmyer-Tremont Student Athlete Foundation to attract and assist deserving FGCU student athletes. The FGCU Foundation will request a dollar-for-dollar matching fund from the State of Florida Ethics in Business Scholarship Program.

This significant donation and the matching funds will be known as the Hillmyer-Tremont Endowed Scholarship Fund and will benefit FGCU student athletes in perpetuity.

Scholarships will be awarded to degree-seeking undergraduate student athletes who:
·     Have financial need
·     Take a business ethics course at FGCU, and
·     Demonstrate service to the community.
Every year a male and a female student from Lee or Collier County will be awarded this scholarship.
According to the agreement, other criteria for applicants may be added by the Hillmyer-Tremont Foundation, Inc.
