"Communicating and Listening for Results" Workshop

FORT MYERS, FL - Nonprofit and government employees are invited to attend a one-day workshop "Communicating and Listening for Results" presented by the Florida Institute of Government at Florida Gulf Coast University from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6. The workshop will be held at the Center for Professional Development at Edison Community College.
This seminar will help you learn and practice effective communication and listening skills that are critical to the success of supervisors and their teams. Every day, employees receive opportunities in the workplace to use communication skills to their advantage. This workshop will help employees move past barriers in order to obtain better results and relationships.
Objectives will be:
1. Clarify the purpose of meaningful communication
2. Identify specific skills necessary for building rapport
3. Distinguish between differences of opinion and conflict
4. Assess personal listening skills
5. Identify learning modes of the listener - visual, auditory and kinesthetic
6. Practice effective communication techniques
