FGCU Receives Campus Charter from American Criminal Justice Association

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University President William C. Merwin presented members of the Lambda Alpha Epsilon campus chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association with its new charter on Monday, April 30 at 4 p.m. during an outdoor ceremony.

The ACJA is devoted to the furtherance of professionalism in all areas of criminal justice. It strives to encourage greater cooperation among
criminal justice agencies and to promote greater understanding between the community and the profession.

Membership is composed of people who are formally committed to the field of criminal justice, either through their education or their employment. Chapters are organized as professional, collegiate or a combination of both. Members come from the total criminal justice spectrum - law enforcement, prosecution, defense courts and corrections. There are over
175 collegiate chapters throughout the United States.
