FGCU to Resume Classes on Wednesday

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Division of Colleges and Universities Chancellor Carl Blackwell told Florida Gulf Coast University President William C. Merwin late this afternoon that all state universities, including FGCU, will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 12.

FGCU is offering emotional and spiritual counseling services to students, faculty and staff. The University has several professional, licensed counselors and campus ministers available for guidance. Call (941) 281-6454 for more information or visit for a complete list.

FGCU University Police and Safety is directing people seeking information on relatives and friends in the trauma areas to the American Red Cross, which is acting as the central information gathering point. Phone circuits to the affected areas are busy and likely to be reserved to emergency operations.
