FGCU Convocation Scheduled for Friday is Cancelled

FORT MYERS, FL – Florida Gulf Coast University President William C. Merwin has decided to cancel the New Student Convocation that was scheduled at the University for 1 p.m. today.

“Under the circumstances,” he said in an early morning memorandum, “it would be inappropriate to conduct a celebratory event such as the Freshman Convocation on a day officially proclaimed as a Day of Mourning. Therefore, we will postpone the event until a more appropriate date and time.”
