Runners, Walkers Wanted for Miromar Outlets Scholarship Run Set for Feb. 2
FORT MYERS, FL - The Fifth Annual Miromar Outlets Scholarship Run to benefit student scholarships at Florida Gulf Coast University affords participants a chance to run or walk for a good cause, and perhaps get a little shopping done on the side. The event begins at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at FGCU. Registration starts at 6:30 a.m.
The fundraiser features 5-kilometer (3.1 mile) and 10-kilometer (6.2 mile) point-to-point races starting at the FGCU campus and finishing at Miromar Outlets. An awards ceremony will follow at about 9:45 a.m. FGCU will provide participants with transportation back to FGCU after prizes are awarded.
All proceeds from the event benefit scholarships for deserving FGCU students. Entry fee is $20 before Friday, Feb. 1 and $25 the day of the event. Race packets are available in the NIKE store at Miromar Outlets from noon to 8 p.m. on Feb. 1 or at the registration table the day of the event. Prizes will be awarded for the male and female top three overall winners; the top masters, grandmaster and senior grandmaster; the top two overall walkers; and the top finishers in the wheelchair division. Age group prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers. The age group categories span 9 & under, 10-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70-plus.
