Kelly Foundation Establishes Scholarship Fund
FORT MYERS, FL - Clewiston-based Kelly Foundation Inc. established a $50,000 scholarship fund at Florida Gulf Coast University to provide funding for deserving undergraduate students from Florida who cannot afford a college education.
Kelly Foundation Inc. is associated with Miami-based Kelly Tractor, which has dealerships in Fort Myers and Punta Gorda.
The State of Florida’s Ethics in Business Scholarship Program will match the Kelly Foundation Scholarship Fund.
Kelly Tractor President Pat Kelly says the scholarship endowment is a way for his family to give back to the Fort Myers community and benefit FGCU students for years to come.
“Our family has been in business in Southwest Florida since 1933 and the Fort Myers community has been very important to us,” Kelly says. “We want to help as many deserving students as we can to achieve a higher education so they might give back to the community in the future.”
The Kelly family established the Kelly Foundation Inc. in 1958 to provide scholarships for undergraduate students in Southwest Florida and to provide grant money for other charitable organizations. The foundation has awarded more than 350 scholarships.
Florida created the Ethics in Business Scholarship Program in 1997 and has $245,000 left in available matching funds. Scholarship recipients must be undergraduates with a need for financial assistance, perform community service and take an ethics course.
