Eagle Runners Look Forward to First Meet at Florida Tech Invitational

FORT MYERS, FL - This weekend, Florida Gulf Coast University’s first men’s and women’s cross country teams will set their mark in the history books as they open up at the Florida Tech Invitational.

Coach Chris Highfield is pleased with the overall work ethic of his teams and is anxious to get the first-ever season underway.

“Saturday will be our first true taste of competition and we are very excited to get the cross country program rolling in the right direction.”

Cory Donehew (senior, Fort Myers) and Qaysir Syne (sophomore, Fort Myers) look to lead the Eagles men’s team while Antoinette Savino (freshman, Largo, Fla.) and Candy Hogrefe (freshman, Fort Myers) will lead the women’s team.

The seven-team field consists of FGCU, Florida Tech, Embry Riddle, Palm Beach Atlantic, Rollins, Flagler and Nova Southeastern.
