Chris Brubeck's Jazz, Blues and Classical Ensemble "Triple Play" Performs March 22

FORT MYERS, FL - Chris Brubeck and his dynamic ensemble “Triple Play” will perform in concert for a public audience at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 22 in the Florida Gulf Coast University Whitaker Hall Sprint Room.

Adult admission is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Student admission is $10. Seating is limited and reservations are encouraged. Reservations can be made to the FGCU Renaissance Academy at (239) 590-1095. Tickets will be sold at the door on a space-available basis only.

“Triple Play” is Christopher Brubeck, Peter “Madcat” Ruth and Joel Brown performing everything from jazz to folk, to blues and classics.

Christopher Brubeck is a composer, orchestral arranger, lyricist and performer who plays jazz, rock, folk, funk and classical music. His fourth compact disc, Bach to Brubeck, recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, followed Across Your Dreams which featured Frederica von Stade singing songs by Chris, Dave and Iola Brubeck. Chris toured the world from the White House to Russia with the “Dave Brubeck Quartet.” His composition Concerto for Bass Trombone and Orchestra will have performances with the Boston and Pittsburgh Orchestras.

Guitarist Joel Brown’s eclectic career has taken him to England with the London Symphony, to Carnegie Hall with soprano Dawn Upshaw and to recital performances with Frederika von Stade. He has appeared at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, the Tanglewood Festival, Chamber Music Festival of Saratoga and New York University’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Brown is Artist-in-Residence at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs.

Peter “Madcat” Ruth, considered one of the most versatile harmonica players in the world, is equally at home playing blues, folk music, jazz, country or rock and roll. Madcat studied harmonica with Big Walter Horton and toured the world with Dave Brubeck. He has been an invited guest at festivals in the United States and Europe, is heard on 50 recordings, and has appeared on television, radio and with symphony orchestras.
