Theater Production "Big Love" Opens April 4, Offers Six Performances
3/18/2003

FORT MYERS, FL - Charles Mee’s “Big Love,” adapted by Diane Stewart and The Company, will begin performances in the Arts Complex black box theatre at Florida Gulf Coast University beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, April 4.

Other performances are 8 p.m. April 5, 11 and 12, and 2 p.m. Sundays, April 6 and 13.

“Big Love” is a contemporary battle of the sexes based on perhaps the oldest play in existence, “The Suppliant Maidens” by Aeschylus.

Fifty very reluctant brides have been betrothed to 50 very eager grooms. The girls escape and seek sanctuary in a sunny Italian villa.

The grooms, in hot pursuit, are determined to get hitched. Murder, not marriage, becomes the girls’ new game plan in this hit play the New York Times calls “an audacious update, combining a musical, a circus and a Greek tragedy!”

General admission is $10 and student admission with ID is $5.
