Goodwill Industries Picks 2002 Award Winners; FGCU, Employee to be Honored at Annual Dinner
FORT MYERS, FL - At Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida’s 36th Annual Awards Dinner April 23, Florida Gulf Coast University and one of its employees will be honored for their outstanding efforts and participation with Goodwill.
FGCU will receive 2002 Employer of the Year. Goodwill Industries gives the award to an employer that regularly hires “Goodwill Graduates” and has consistently shown support of Goodwill and its mission by helping people help themselves.
FGCU employee David Skotnicki of Naples will be honored as Graduate of the Year for overcoming employment barriers and continuing to reach full potential through the gratification of being gainfully employed.
Other honors to be awarded include Joyce McDuff of Naples, Achiever of the Year, and Publix Supermarkets, Business of the Year.
In 2003, Goodwill Industries International turned 101 years old. The network of 208 community-based, autonomous member organizations serves people with workplace disadvantages and disabilities by providing job training and employment services, as well as job placement opportunities and post-employment support.
Goodwill has locations in the United States, Canada and 22 other countries. In 2001, it served 544,765 individuals.
