FGCU Presents Second Annual Research Day in Conjunction with Sixth Annual Celebration of Excellence Awards Program; Public Invited
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University will host the Second Annual Research Day 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, April 25 in the Student Union Building to draw attention to the array of research-sponsored activities taking place within the University. The Sixth Annual Celebration of Excellence will conclude the event.
“The purpose of holding this event is to highlight and celebrate the efforts of many dedicated people and associated programs at FGCU,” director of Research and Sponsored Programs Tom Roberts said.
Roberts says the day celebrates faculty and students’ hard work and accomplishments, and helps in educating the general public to the primary difference between comprehensive universities and other educational organizations that do not engage in research activity, such as colleges, community colleges and technical schools.
Planned events for the day include a poster competition on exhibit for public viewing from
1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Union, immediately followed by the Sixth Annual Celebration of Excellence to present a myriad of honors, including Faculty Scholarship Excellence awards, internal grant awards, employee awards and student awards.
The ceremony will also include winners of the Research Day poster competition. FGCU will grant one award valued at $1,000 in funding to one faculty/staff winner to help advance the winner’s scholarship activity. Each of FGCU’s five colleges will bestow $200 to student winners in various academic areas.
