"Effective Proposal Writing" Workshop Offered by FGCU Florida Institute of Government
FORT MYERS, FL - Managers and employees from both the private and public sectors are invited to attend a one-day course “Effective Proposal Writing” presented by the Florida Institute of Government at Florida Gulf Coast University as part of its Professional Development Series 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19 in 111 Broadcast Building.
With philanthropy at an all-time high, it is wise to take advantage of available grant opportunities. The workshop will focus on how to research potential funding sources in order to match grant opportunities with organizational needs. It will examine the proposal writing process and provide instruction related to writing successful proposals for your organization.

· How to select the best potential funding source for your organization
· How to write a proposal that has the best chance of being funded
· How and when to follow-up appropriately after grant submission
Shelley Robertson is instructor for the program. She has prepared local, state and federal grants for a variety of organizations as well as integrated funding plans. She has been a grant reviewer for state and local funding.
Robertson was formerly a corporate trainer and consultant, co-developing cross-functional training programs (corporate universities) for multinational firms and similar programs for international professional trade organizations. She joined the nonprofit and government sector in 1996 as director of Community Involvement for Heart of Florida United Way. She has presented hundreds of seminars on a variety of topics for nonprofit, government, foundation and public/private organizations. She is a published author and holds a Bachelor of Arts in business and a Master of Arts in applied economics.
