Art Gallery Hosts Public Reception Dec. 5 for Student Art Exhibit; Pottery Sale to Benefit Immokalee Program Also Opens
FORT MYERS, FL - The public is invited to an opening reception for the Florida Gulf Coast University bi-annual juried Student Art Exhibition 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5 in the Arts Complex art gallery. The exhibit runs through Friday, Jan. 16 excluding FGCU holidays.
Students working in sculpture, drawing, painting and ceramics studios this fall will showcase their finest work for the fall exhibition. About 100 works of art demonstrating students’ accomplishments and experiments will be featured.
In addition to the juried works of art, senior projects by students majoring in art will be featured including Becky Armstead, Kenneth Whaler and Kathleen Bean.
FGCU art faculty members Patricia J. Fay, Kate Kramer, Morgan T. Paine, Carl Schwartz and Mary Sullivan Voytek were jurors of the exhibit.
Also Dec. 5, FGCU and the United Arts Council will host the Third Annual Holiday Pottery Sale 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6 in the Arts Complex art gallery to benefit the Immokalee Ceramics Studio, a unique program designed to provide an ongoing educational and economic opportunity for the residents of Immokalee.
Admission is free and the gallery is open to the public 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays observed by the University.
