WHO FGCU Center for Civic Engagement, for the public
WHAT “Locks of Love” event to benefit the nonprofit organization Locks of Love. Cutting and styling are free with a donation of 10 inches or more of healthy hair. If the stylist removes 10 inches in length or more, the cut is free and the tresses will be given to needy children across America. Salon partners this year are A Cut Above, Renaissance Salon and Terrance Michael Salon.

WHERE In the lobbies of Academic Building III and Griffin and Reed halls
WHY Locks of Love, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization based in Lake Worth, Fla., provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children with medical hair loss. Founded in 1997, the organization has helped over 850 children. The custom-fitted hair prosthetics are provided for free or on a sliding scale by financial need.
COST $10 donation for cuts less than 10 inches and up-dos
