Runners, Walkers Sought for Miromar Outlets Scholarship Run May 15
FORT MYERS, FL - The Seventh Annual Miromar Outlets 5k and 10k Scholarship Run to raise funds for student scholarships at Florida Gulf Coast University affords participants a chance to run or walk for a good cause, and perhaps get a little shopping done on the side. The event begins 8:15 a.m. Saturday, May 15 on the FGCU campus. Registration starts at 7 a.m.
The fundraiser features certified, 5-kilometer (3.1 mile) and 10-kilometer (6.2 mile) point-to-point races starting at the FGCU campus and finishing at Miromar Outlets. The event is sanctioned by the Fort Myers Track Club.
All proceeds from the event benefit scholarships for deserving FGCU students. Entry fee is $15 through Thursday, May 13 and $20 thereafter.
Race packets are available in the Miromar Outlets office noon to 7 p.m., Friday, May 14, or at the registration table the day of the event. Entry can also be made online at www.active.com
Following the event, FGCU will award 5k and 10k prizes to the top three Male and Female Overall winners; the top Male and Female Masters (40+), Grand Masters (50+) and Senior Grand Masters (60+); and the top two Male and Female Overall 5k walkers.
Male and Female Overall winners receive $100, Male and Female Masters winners receive $75, Male and Female Grand Masters receive $50, and Male and Female Senior Grand Masters receive $25.
Age group prizes will be awarded to the top three Male and Female finishers in each of 15 divisions: 9 & under, 10-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and up. All registered participants receive an official race T-shirt.
