FGCU Reopens; Classes Resume September 7
9/7/2004
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University reopens Tuesday, September 7, for regular service to the public, according to President William C. Merwin. Classes will resume at all locations as originally scheduled. FGCU Charlotte County classes scheduled to begin the week of September 7 will begin at the scheduled time. Students who left campus over the long weekend may return immediately. Food service will resume Monday, September 6 at 4:30 p.m.
Fortunately, the FGCU campus sustained no physical damage or power outage from Hurricane Frances. All systems are operating and may be accessed by parents and students who may have questions or concerns. The University is aware that some students may have difficulty returning to campus because of gas shortage around the state.
According to Director of Housing Pam Schreiber, campus housing space is available to students who are in need of housing. Because of the devastation caused by Hurricanes Charley and Frances, one semester housing contracts are available. Schreiber may be reached at (239) 590-1707.
