Area High Schools Head to FGCU for Second Annual Invitational Math Competition Nov. 23

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University hosts the second annual Whitaker Mathematics Competition for high school students 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23 beginning in Whitaker Hall.
FGCU tests participants at six different levels during the competition including algebra 1, algebra 2, geometry, statistics, precalculus and calculus.
Provost and vice president for Academic Affairs Bonnie Yegidis awards individual prizes to the top eight finishers, team prizes to the top five teams and sweepstakes awards to the top five schools beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom.
FGCU expects more than 600 student competitors to participate on 21 teams from high schools throughout FGCU's five county service area. About 100 school sponsors are anticipated as well.
