FGCU Invites Individuals with Disabilities, Professionals to Community Conference March 5

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University invites individuals with disabilities, their families, professionals and interested community members to attend "Recipe for Success: A Community Conference on Disability" 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 5 in the Whitaker Hall Sprint Room to learn how to improve the quality of life for all our community members.

Former president of Voices for Florida's Children Jack Levine is keynote speaker.

The conference includes workshops on transitions, legal and legislative concerns, behavioral issues, community inclusion, self-determination, available services for children birth to five years, mental health resources, and service provision.

Selected workshops and keynote presentation are translated into Spanish.

FGCU's Southwest Florida Comprehensive System of Personnel Development and the School District of Lee County, in collaboration with the region's other county school districts, family, and community organizations, are hosting the event.

"This is the first collaborative effort of its kind, and we're very excited to be part of this dynamic event," CSPD project coordinator Peg Sullivan said.
