FGCU Hosts Panel Discussion to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University invites the public and the FGCU community to attend a panel discussion 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25 in Student Union 213 to celebrate "Hispanic Heritage in the Campus Community."

The panel discussion addresses the heritage and perspectives that Hispanic students, faculty and staff bring to the FGCU community.

The discussion is centered on the panelists' reflection on personal experiences and emphasizes the importance of learning about different cultures and customs.

Panelists include FGCU sophomore Esmeiling Cabral, assistant professor of Latin America History Nicola Foote, Southwest Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce president Leonardo Garcia, director of International Services and Global Initiatives Elaine Hozdik, associate professor in the College of Arts and Sciences Enrique Marquez, and director of Institutional Equity and Compliance Cheryl Seals-Gonzalez. Professor of history and chair of FGCU EEO/Diversity Committee Irvin D.S. Winsboro moderates the discussion.

FGCU EEO/Diversity Advisory Committee and the Office of Multicultural Student Development Services sponsor the panel discussion.
