FGCU Presents 'Girls in Engineering, Math and Science' Workshop March 24
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University College of Arts and Sciences and Office of Research & Sponsored Programs host 'Girls in Engineering, Math and Science,' or GEMS, workshop 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 24 in Whitaker Hall for middle school girls from Lee and Collier counties to learn about careers in the areas of engineering, mathematics and science. Registration deadline is March 9.
This workshop provides participants with hands-on experience to engage in activities with science professionals in areas of biology, biotechnology, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, forensics, marine science, medicine, or veterinary science in actual classroom laboratories.
Program leader and assistant professor in the Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics Terry Dubetz, and chair and professor in the Department of Biological Sciences Jo Ann Wilson direct the workshop.
The program is free to all participants. Parents are welcome, but not required. All activities are supervised by FGCU staff.
