FGCU Bower School of Music Hosts President's Concert
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University Bower School of Music hosts its first President's Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 16 in the Student Union ballroom to honor FGCU Interim President Richard Pegnetter with performances by outstanding students and faculty.
A competition for the privilege of music majors to perform at this concert was held in December. Five students were selected to perform from a group of 25. The students selected are Sarah Ascol, junior with a concentration in voice performance; Michael Caysido, freshman with a concentration in piano performance; Faith Lanctot, sophomore with a concentration in piano performance; Christian LoGaglio, freshman with a concentration in guitar performance; and Sean Terwilliger, freshman with a concentration in voice performance.
The music of Barber, Beethoven, Handel, Mangore and Mendelssohn will be performed by the students.
Also featured on the program is Michael Baron, associate professor of Piano, and Jeanie Darnell, assistant professor of Voice. Baron performs "Adagio in D Major" by Galuppi and "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 11" by Liszt. Darnell sings "Porgi Amor" from Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart, "Gretchen am Spinnrade" by Schubert, and "Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?" by Stroope.
