FGCU Hosts "State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida" Wednesday through Friday

FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University hosts over 850 best and brightest science engineering middle and high school students representing 38 regions from around the state to compete at the State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida Wednesday through Friday, April 11 to April 13 in Alico Arena.

During the three-day event, students have the opportunity to share ideas with one another, increase personal development in scientific and technological areas, gain self-confidence in problem solving skills, and participate in educational field trips and areas of interest tours.

The event is sponsored by the Florida Foundation for Future Scientists. Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Donna Price Henry is host director of the event this year. FGCU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Bonnie Yegidis welcomes participants at the opening ceremony 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11. Vice President for Administrative Services Joe Shepard welcomes participants and the public at the grand awards ceremony 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 13. Fort Myers-Canterbury student and competitor Sabrina Prabakaran sings the national anthem on Wednesday.

The public is invited to view the projects from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12. Parking is available at Alico Arena for the open public events.
