FGCU's Teacher Immersion Program (TIP) Holds Second Information Session Oct. 22;
Accepting Applications through Nov. 1 for Spring Cohort
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University's Teacher Immersion Program (TIP) is accepting applications through Nov. 1 for its spring 2008 cohort from individuals interested in becoming certified K-12 classroom teachers. Candidates who hold a bachelor's degree may apply.
An information session is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 22, in room 249 Reed Hall. The information session covers all aspects of teacher training offered at FGCU. TIP offers flexible scheduling of classes (online, Saturdays), which includes nine graduate credits that may be applied to a master's degree. TIP is a state-approved teacher preparation program, which develops the participant's knowledge and skills in classroom management, best instructional practices, literacy strategies, the psychology of learning, educational technology, and foundation of education. TIP students may use their own classrooms for their internship/practicum.
To qualify for TIP, candidates must complete an application packet, including a statement with the candidate's reasons for wanting to become a teacher, two letters of recommendation describing the candidate's potential to be a successful teacher of moral and ethical character, and college transcripts. They must have an undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher.
Qualified applicants are eligible for full tuition scholarships under a federal grant.
