FGCU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Resigns Position
FORT MYERS, FL - Dr. Bonnie Yegidis today announced her resignation as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). She will move to FGCU's faculty ranks in her field of Social Work.
"I have accepted Dr. Yegidis' resignation as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs," said FGCU President Wilson G. Bradshaw. "On behalf of FGCU, I thank Dr. Yegidis for her service and wish her well as she joins the faculty."
Under the provisions of Dr. Yegidis' employment contract, she will receive a one-year sabbatical to prepare to return to teaching. She will start annual leave immediately, after which she will begin her sabbatical on January 2, 2008. At the conclusion of the sabbatical, Dr. Yegidis will have a faculty appointment with the rank of full professor in the School of Social Work in FGCU's College of Professional Studies.
"Effective immediately I am naming Associate Vice President for Curriculum and Instruction Peg Gray-Vickrey as Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs," President Bradshaw said. "Dr. Gray-Vickrey will serve in this capacity during a national search for the position. In the near future I will appoint an FGCU Search Advisory Committee, with the goal of a July 1, 2008 starting date for the individual selected. The excitement surrounding FGCU's growth and development makes this a very desirable position in higher education, and I anticipate strong national interest."
