FGCU Bower School of Music Presents Second Annual President's Concert
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University's Bower School of Music will present its second President's Concert 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 14 in the Student Union ballroom. This year's concert is in honor of the inauguration of the third president of FGCU, Dr. Wilson G. Bradshaw, and features performances by outstanding students and faculty.
The first round of the competition for the right of students to perform at this concert was held in December, and the finals were held January 16. Eight students from a field of forty were selected to perform. They are Samuel Chadwick, freshman from Naples, double bass; Anna Culp, freshman from Altamonte Springs, soprano; Roland Felix Forti, freshman from Bradenton, violin; Justin Goff, junior from Fort Myers, timpani; Satoko Hayami, sophomore from Japan, piano; Hyae-jin Hwang, junior from South Korea, piano; Edward Rizo, sophomore from Miami, guitar; and Faith Lanctot Sam, junior from Grand Junction, Colorado, piano.
The music of Bach, Mendelssohn, Lalo, Schumann, Morel, Carter, Ravel and Mozart will be performed by the students.
Also featured on the program is Michael Baron, associate professor of Piano, and Jeanie Darnell, assistant professor of Voice. Darnell performs "Dove sono i bei moment" from Le Nozze Di Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and "The Monk and His Cat" from Hermit Songs by Samuel Barber. Baron performs "Malaguena" by Ernesto Lecuona.
Admission to the concert is complimentary and no ticket is required.
