FGCU Invites Community to
Research Day, Celebration of Excellence Awards April 18
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University invites the public to attend the Seventh Annual Research Day 11 a.m., Friday, April 18 in Alico Arena to highlight and celebrate the efforts of many dedicated people and programs at FGCU while at the same time educating the general public about the substantial contributions to research and education that are made by predominately undergraduate institutions.
Last year over one hundred posters were on display. This year 159 posters will be on display beginning 11 a.m. and concluding at 3 p.m. The event is open to the public.
Following Research Day, FGCU hosts the 11th Annual Celebration of Excellence awards, beginning at 3 p.m. in Alico Arena to present a myriad of honors to faculty, staff and students.
"The Celebration of Excellence is an opportunity for us to recognize the many endeavors of the university community in scholarship, leadership, service, creative arts, and teaching during the past year," FGCU President Wilson G. Bradshaw said. "Seven years ago Research Day was incorporated as part of the Celebration of Excellence to highlight and celebrate our many achievements in this area."
FGCU bestows Faculty Scholarship, Service and Teaching Excellence awards and internal grant awards to name a few.
Cash awards include a $1,000 prize for the overall winner of the Research Day poster competition, a $500 award for faculty and staff poster winners in each academic area, and a $250 award for student poster winners in each academic area.
