FGCU Whitaker Center Hosts Nationally Recognized STEM Education Expert Cathy Manduca to Lead Faculty Professional Development Workshop, Feb. 13
2/4/2009

FORT MYERS, FL - The Whitaker Center at Florida Gulf Coast University, as part of its inaugural 2008-09 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education Academy Series hosts a faculty professional development workshop at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13 in Whitaker Hall, Room 243.

The second workshop of the series titled, "Sharing Teaching Activities Online," is led by Cathy Manduca, director of the Science Education Resource Center at Carleton College in Northfield, Minn.

Digital libraries provide helpful materials for K-16 educators and also provide opportunities for teachers to distribute their own materials widely, thereby becoming more productive as teaching scholars. Consequently, this workshop should be of interest to educators at all academic levels.

Manduca serves as chair of the American Geophysical Union Committee on Education, and as the executive director of the National Association of Geosciences Teachers. Her work contributes to the National Association of Geosciences Teachers and the National Science Digital Library. Manduca organizes workshops for educators at all levels to develop web resources that link teaching resources and pedagogy.

The two-hour workshop is free and open to the public.
