2009 Celebration of the Arts: FGCU Juried Student Art Exhibition and Theatre Opening
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University Department of Visual and Performing Arts presents the 2009 Celebration of the Arts, a fine art and theater exhibition presented by the students of FGCU on Wednesday, April 1 at the FGCU Arts Complex. The public is invited to an evening of the arts, food, and music, including the juried student art show, opening at 4 p.m., and the 8 p.m. opening of the theatre lab's production of "TL001: A Performance Constellation." Exhibitions and performances continue throughout April.
"TL001: A Performance Constellation," directed by assistant theater professor Michelle Hayford, will be the first installment of the FGCU Theatre Lab's original ensemble-created work. The performance is a collaborative creation, a form of theatre where the script originates not from a writer or writers, but from improvisatory work by a group of people, in this case FGCU theatre students.
Performances are Wednesday through Sunday, April 1-5, April 8-10, and April 15-18. Curtain opens at 8 p.m. for all performances except Sunday. Tickets are available by calling (239) 590-7268.
The Art Gallery is located inside the Arts Complex on FGCU's main campus. The University is located off Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, east of I-75 between exits 123 and 128. Parking is available in Lot 7 for gallery visitors, parking passes are available at the parking kiosk located at the University’s entrance.
