WHO FGCU Florida Institute of Government, for code enforcers
WHAT "Code Enforcement Certification Training, Level I" course. Participants learn the fundamentals of code enforcement. Code enforcement certification requires being in attendance at all of the training sessions and passing an exam for each level. After becoming certified, participants complete 16 hours of approved continuing education courses within a two-year period in order to maintain certification. Most of the professional development programs offered by the Florida Institute of Government qualify in meeting continuing education needs. Most code enforcement officers find they benefit from belonging to the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE).

WHY Code enforcement board (40 hours):
• Communication skills - 4 hours
• Principles and practices of code enforcement - 12 hours
• Property research and ownership - 8 hours
• Report writing - 4 hours
• Ethics - 4 hours
• Legal aspects of code enforcement - 8 hours
COST $480 for FACE members; $600 for non-members
