Hosts Disaster Preparedness Workshop at Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce
FORT MYERS, FL - The Small Business Development Center at Florida Gulf Coast University, in partnership with the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce, will host a free Disaster Preparedness Workshop, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26 at the Chamber offices located at 17200 San Carlos Blvd in Fort Myers Beach.
"The workshop will relate to pertinent information business owners need to know should a disaster strike. The information that will be presented will be extremely valuable to Southwest Florida business owners." states Dan Regelski, SBDC director. "Tragically, of the businesses that close following a disaster, 25 percent never reopen and 29 percent will close permanently within two years."
Panelists include: Dan Regelski, Director, SBDC; Terry Cerrulo, Regional Director, Bureau of Outreach, State Dept. of Financial Services; Gerald Campbell, FPEM, Chief of Planning, Lee County Emergency Management; and Greg Firth, President of Fireservice Disaster Kleenup. John Albion, President of the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce, moderates the workshop.
"We are not just talking about hurricane preparedness, although we are in the hurricane season; there are other natural disasters that occur such as flooding and fires, and all can affect business operations."
There is no cost to attend the workshop but reservations are strongly encouraged as seating is limited. Registration can be completed online at http://cli.fgcu.edu/sbdc/register, or by calling the SBDC office at (239) 745-3700.
