FGCU Bower School of Music Presents Annual President's Concert with a Special Announcement
FORT MYERS, FL - The Bower School of Music students perform for Florida Gulf Coast University President Wilson G. Bradshaw at the annual President's Concert 7 p.m., Friday, March 12 in the Student Union ballroom. In addition, President Bradshaw announces a partnership with Steinway Piano Society to become an All-Steinway School.
"Steinway is a name synonymous with quality," said President Bradshaw. "The Bower School of Music joins the ranks of esteemed music conservatories and universities that demonstrate their commitment to excellence through the exclusive use of these quality instruments in instruction, practice and performance."
Florida Gulf Coast University is the fourth university in the State University System of Florida to receive this designation.
Thomas Edds of Steinway & Sons, and Greg Billings of Steinway Piano Gallery will present an All-Steinway School plaque to the Bower School of Music.
All-Steinway Schools demonstrate a commitment to excellence by providing their students and faculty with the best equipment possible for the study of music. The only pianos owned by the institutions, from the practice room to the recital hall, are designed by Steinway & Sons.
FGCU's music majors compete in celebrated competitions across the states and nation, winning against graduate students from well-established programs. This spring the Bower School of Music will graduate its first class.
