FGCU Renaissance Academy Announces
Contemporary Art Lecture Series
FORT MYERS, FL - The Renaissance Academy of Florida Gulf Coast University announces its 2011 Contemporary Art Lecture Series with a presentation by Joseph Thompson, Founding Director of the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Thompsonís lecture "Sol LeWitt: When Art is Pure Idea" will be held Friday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m., at the Academy's 1010 5th Avenue South, Naples location. In this intellectually stimulating and challenging lecture series, nationally recognized experts will share their knowledge of the artists, forms, styles and innovations that have helped to define contemporary art. Among the Renaissance Academy's offerings are affordable, non-credit single lectures, short courses, day trips, computer classes, film series, life enrichment classes, writing workshops, travel abroad programs and other special events. There are no exams or grades, just learning for the joy of learning with friends, neighbors and peers. Course fees are typically $25 per lecture, and provide access to Academy programs located at twelve locations throughout Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties.
