The President's Lecture Series marks an evolution in Florida Gulf Coast University's long-held commitment to bring compelling speakers with meaningful messages to Southwest Florida.
That effort began with the University Lecture Series, which featured Maya Angelou, Mikhail Gorbachev and Gen. Colin Powell.
The new lecture series will build upon that tradition. This year's featured speaker is Laura W. Bush, First Lady of the United States (2001-2009), a compelling advocate for issues of national and global concern, with a particular emphasis on education, women's health and human rights.
Mrs. Bush's appearance is made possible through the generous assistance and support of the Honorable Francis and Mrs. Kathleen Rooney, and Key Private Bank.
