FGCU Small Business Development Center Hosts Events to Celebrate National Small Business Week
FORT MYERS, FL - Florida Gulf Coast University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host a variety of tributes for small business owners in honor of National Small Business Week, May 16 to May 20.
The week-long event kicks off at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 14, with a free Small Business Summit at the FGCU Renaissance Academy in Naples. Business owners can take advantage of a variety of workshop topics taught by the area's leading experts. Topics include SBA financing, legal issues, credit repair and restoration, human resource issues and social media opportunities. Additional sponsors include Constant Contact, SCORE-Naples, Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce, and Florida Department of Financial Services. A complimentary breakfast will be served. The event ends at 1 p.m.
Other tributes include a luncheon and business expo at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 17 at Edison State College in Labelle. Cost to attend is $20, which includes lunch with a guest speaker. The event is sponsored by Wachovia Bank.
Over 12 area Cape Coral restaurants will offer samplings, Wednesday, May 18, at "Taste of the Cape" from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Cape Coral Yacht Club. A series of speakers will be available to help small business owners with their marketing, motivation, and networking skills. Admission is free, but reservations are required. This event is in conjunction with City of Cape Coral, Cape Coral EDC, Cape Coral CRA, and Cape Coral Chamber.
The Small Business Resource Network (SBRN) sponsors a free Small Business Appreciation Night and Tradeshow, Thursday, May 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn - Airport. Refreshments, cash bar, and door prize giveaways will be offered.
