Tropical Storm Erika - Update on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 5:00 am

Tropical Storm Erika continues to progress and approach Cuba. Since yesterday the track has moved to the west and the storm has weakened and is projected to weaken into a tropical depression before regaining tropical storm status on Monday. The projections and trends are favorable for FGCU to have less of an impact from Erika.

FGCU is currently under normal operations. University staff continue making some preparations for the storm being in the area Sunday evening and early Monday.

The University is reviewing all activities planned for Sunday and Monday and will be in discussions today to determine any further actions needed. As always, the University will make these decisions as timely as possible and distribute that information to all faculty/staff & students.

All are encouraged to continue to monitor the storm through local news agencies.

We will issue a more detailed update today after the 11am data is released.
