Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering
Dr. Chris Geiger joined FGCU as an Assistant Professor in Bioengineering in January 2007. He previously was a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Geiger received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University, and his MS and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern in 2003. His current research interests include gene therapy, with a particular focus on its application in the lung and the eye, cellular biomechanics, and diabetic retinopathy. His research has been presented at numerous national and international meetings, and he has been published in several leading journals, including Gene Therapy, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, and the Journal of Cell Science. He is currently a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society and the American Society for Engineering Education.
