Meet the Staff

 
 
Vee H. Leonard, Esq.

Vice President and General Counsel 

Vee Leonard was appointed the Vice President and General Counsel for Florida Gulf Coast University, and previously served as General Counsel,  Assistant and Associate General Counsel. Prior to her arrival at Florida Gulf Coast University, Ms. Leonard was Assistant City Attorney for the City of Orlando, and also worked in private practice, specializing in employment litigation.

Ms. Leonard received her Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in Gainesville, Florida. Ms. Leonard is a native Floridian, born and reared in Orlando, Florida.

Ms. Leonard has been a member of the Florida Bar Foundation Board of Directors and is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys. She was also a charter member of the Orlando Chapter of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources.

Lisa R. Jones

Associate General Counsel

Lisa Jones joined Florida Gulf Coast University as Associate General Counsel after serving most recently as University Counsel and Secretary to the Board for Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.  Additionally, Ms. Jones taught Public Sector Employment Law at the Washburn University School of Law Ms. Jones has also served as Associate General Counsel for Wichita State University and the Kansas Board of Regents.  Ms. Jones is a member of the Florida Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Association.  She is also a member of the National Association for College and University Attorneys and the Kansas Bar Association Board of Editors.  Prior to working in the area of higher education, Ms. Jones was the staff attorney to the Shawnee County District Court, and also served as Assistant County Counselor primarily working as the legal advisor to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office.

David M. Greenbaum

Assistant General Counsel 

David is the Assistant General Counsel.  Mr. Greenbaum most recently served as an Assistant County Attorney for Broward County providing legal counsel to the construction management, facilities maintenance, procurement services and several social service divisions of Broward County government.  He previously served on committee staff of the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate providing legal analysis on such issues as public records and meetings, administrative procedure, and agency regulatory activities.

Mr. Greenbaum is a Florida native, having been born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida.  He received  his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and International Affairs in 1986 and his Masters in Public Administration in 1989 from Florida State University.  Mr. Greenbaum received his Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University in 1996.

Diane St. John

Executive Assistant to the Vice President and General Counsel

Diane is the Executive Assistant to the Vice President and General Counsel.  A resident of Lee County since 1990, Diane served as Executive Assistant to both the President of Construction and the President of Development at a local construction/development company.   Diane also managed the office for Sylvan Learning Systems’ Regional Corporate Office in Bonita Springs as well as the Bonita Springs YMCA Capital Campaign Office.  In 1991 Diane was appointed as a Juvenile Arbitrator and Guardian Ad Litem in Lee County.

Prior to moving to Florida, Diane lived in the Illinois Quad Cities and was employed for over ten years in the Administrative Office for Black Hawk Area Special Education District, a special education district cooperative serving sixteen school districts.  She has been in the General Counsel's office since April 2008.

Marcus “Todd” Caraway

Office Manager

Todd started working at Florida Gulf Coast University in August 2006, as a Resident Director in the Office of Housing and Residence Life.  In May 2013 he joined the Office of the General Counsel as the Office Manager.  A Florida native, Todd came to Fort Myers from Pensacola where he was a Certified Business Analyst with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and, prior to working at the SBDC, he worked at the University of West Florida.

Todd graduated from the University of West Florida with a B.A. in International Studies and a minor in Business.
