Vee H. Leonard, Esq.

Vice President and General Counsel 

Ms. Vee Leonard was appointed Vice President and General Counsel for Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) in 2013. Ms. Leonard previously served as FGCU's General Counsel,  Associate General Counsel, and Assistant General Counsel. Prior to her arrival at FGCU, Ms. Leonard was Assistant City Attorney for the City of Orlando and also worked in private practice, specializing in employment litigation.

Ms. Leonard received her Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida, and her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Florida's Levin College of Law in Gainesville, Florida. Ms. Leonard is a native Floridian, born and reared in Orlando, Florida.

Ms. Leonard has been a member of the Florida Bar Foundation Board of Directors and the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), as well as a charter member of the Orlando Chapter of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources. In May 2015, Ms. Leonard became a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP).

Lisa R. Jones

Associate General Counsel

Ms. Lisa Jones joined Florida Gulf Coast University as Associate General Counsel in 2013, after serving most recently as University Counsel and Secretary to the Board for Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Additionally, Ms. Jones taught Public Sector Employment Law at the Washburn University School of Law. Ms. Jones had previously served as Associate General Counsel for Wichita State University and the Kansas Board of Regents.  

Ms. Jones is a member of the Florida Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Association.  She is also a member of the National Association for College and University Attorneys (NACUA) and the Kansas Bar Association Board of Editors.  

Prior to working in the area of higher education, Ms. Jones was the staff attorney to the Shawnee County District Court, and also served as Assistant County Counselor, primarily working as the legal advisor to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office.

David M. Greenbaum

Assistant General Counsel 

Mr. David Greenbaum joined Florida Gulf Coast University as Assistant General Counsel in 2009.  He previously served as an Assistant County Attorney for Broward County providing legal counsel to the construction management, facilities maintenance, procurement services, and several social service divisions of Broward County government.  Before that, Mr. Greenbaum served on committee staff of the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate providing legal analysis on such issues as public records and meetings, administrative procedure, and agency regulatory activities.

Mr. Greenbaum is a Florida native, having been born and reared in Miami Beach, Florida.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and International Affairs in 1986 and his Masters in Public Administration in 1989 from Florida State University.  Mr. Greenbaum received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Nova Southeastern University in 1996.

M. Todd Caraway

Executive Assistant to the Vice President and General Counsel

Mr. M. Todd Caraway started working at Florida Gulf Coast University in 2006, as a Resident Director in the Office of Housing and Residence Life.  In May 2013, he joined the Office of the General Counsel as the office manager and was promoted to Executive Assistant to the Vice President and General Counsel in March 2014.  A Florida native, Mr. Caraway came to Fort Myers from Pensacola where he was a Certified Business Analyst with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and, prior to working at the SBDC, worked at the University of West Florida.

Mr. Caraway received his B.A. in International Studies, with a minor in Business, from the University of West Florida, Pensacola, Florida.

Angela Baerwalde

Administrative Assistant

Ms. Angela Baerwalde started working at FGCU in 2014, as the Executive Secretary for Budget and Management Services in the Office of the Provost, as well as the Faculty Senate Assistant. In February 2016, she joined the Office of the General Counsel as Administrative Assistant.  She provides support for the Office of General Counsel.

Angela is a native of West Michigan and has over 25 years of Administrative support experience including working for the Lowell Area School district for 10 years. She currently resides in Cape Coral with her husband Matthew and their two children, Angie and Tim.

Lenora Lynam

Office Manager

Ms. Lenora Lynam joined the Office of the General Counsel at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) as the Executive Secretary in April 2015 and was promoted to Office Manager in January 2016. She provides support for the Office of the General Counsel. Ms. Lynam previously worked at the University of Miami for 10 years as an Administrative Assistant for the Division of Enrollment Management.

Ms. Lynam was born and reared in Miami, Florida. She lived in the Midwest for 16 years before returning to her home state of Florida in 2004. She enjoys spending time with her daughter, who is a student here at FGCU, her son, family, and friends.
