Be sure to address state issues to the Florida Legislators, and federal issues to our Members of Congress (U.S. Representatives and Senators). Due to the sometimes overwhleming amount of correspondence that legislators receive, they may not be able to respond to letters that are not from residents of their district; however, they still read them and getting your opinion heard by them is still important.
Sample letters can be found on the active legislation page. Since letters need to be specific to the issues they address, we have given a sample for selected pieces of legislation at the Federal and state level.
When addressing a legislator do not use vulgar or profane language. Please sign your name and provide an address, or at least a town. Anonymous mail is ineffective and often discarded.
