Non-degree Seeking


Post- baccalaureate non-degree student classification status has been established to help serve the academic needs of the community. This post baccalaureate non-degree admission status allows students bachelor's degrees to enroll in credit courses. You can also apply as a post baccalaureate non-degree student while seeking admission as a graduate degree-seeking student. Non-degree students are subject to the same academic policies as degree-seeking students. All policies are published in the University Catalog.

To get started, please read all of the information below. Please note that if non-degree admission requirements are incomplete, your admission status may restrict course registration.  Upon receipt of your application, you will receive notification by email. This notification will provide important information and steps that you will need to follow.

If you submit a post baccalaureate non-degree application for a term in which registration has closed, your application will be processed for the next term. In order to allow process time, applications, application fees and all supporting documents need to be received no later than two (2) weeks prior to the beginning of the term in which post baccalaureate non degree admission is sought.

Admission Requirements:

  1. Submit Post- Baccalaureate Non-Degree Application (.pdf - 79kb). .
  2. Nonrefundable $30.00 Application Fee.
  3. Submit an Immunization History (.pdf - 37kb). Additional information concerning the state requirement is available from the FGCU Health Services Web Site.
  4. Submit a Florida Residency Affidavit (.pdf - 32kb). To receive Florida residency classification for the purpose of tuition/fees, non-degree applicants must complete, and submit the appropriate form with at least two supporting documents no later than the last day of the late registration period of the term in which residency classification is sought. Once term registration has closed, state law allows no change to residency status. Post-Baccalaureate Non-Degree Restrictions:

  1. Applicants denied admission to a graduate; degree-seeking program may be permitted to apply as non-degree seeking if permission is granted by the college/program.
  2. Non-degree students are subject to the same academic policies and standards as degree-seeking students. Please refer to the University Catalog for more information. However, non-degree seeking students do not enter the University under a catalog year until they are admitted as a degree-seeking student.
  3. Non-degree students are not eligible to receive semester GPA Honor designations, to live in University housing, or to receive financial aid with the exception of teacher certification. For information on eligibility as a certificate student, contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship by calling 239-590-7920 or go to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Web site.
  4. Individuals enrolling, as non-degree students are limited to 9 hours graduate course work. A student seeking admission to the College of Education graduate program may enroll in a maximum of 12 credit hours. Applicants seeking post-baccalaureate certification and Teacher Certification or Re-certification may request an exemption to the credit hour limit.

Registration:

It is the responsibility of the student to register for classes. Non-degree registration dates published in the Academic Calendar

Students may use Gulfline to register for courses. If at any time during the registration process questions or problems arise, please refer to the online Registration Troubleshooting Guide.

As a non-degree student, an academic advisor is not automatically assigned. To contact an advisor concerning course registration permission or information, please contact the appropriate college personnel at Academic Advising.

Grades:

Grades are not automatically mailed to students at the end of a term. Student may view their grades from the Records Menu on Gulfline. Students who need a copy of their grades will be mailed an unofficial transcript at no charge. Written requests should be submitted to the Office of Registration and Records.
