Florida Gulf Coast University - Charlotte is growing as an engine for economic development in the county. Its role in Charlotte County parallels the role of the larger University in our region and state. Whether for FGCU, the nation's fastest growing University, or its Charlotte County operation, the focus is on credit classes and degree programs, applied research, and enhancing the quality of life.
Whichever aspect of FGCU's mission appeals most to you, much of its impact is on the economic development of Charlotte County. Students in our classes in education, in public administration, in business, and in the health professions are becoming better equipped to serve us all in their professions. As we work with the newness of special technologies to bring classes to Charlotte County rather than send every student always out of the county, the students we do it for make Charlotte County a better place.
The Charlotte Center is a primary FGCU commitment to enhance access to the university for the populations of Charlotte County. Like the University, the Center strives to form partnerships to make available its knowledge, resources, services and educational offerings at times, places, in forms and by methods that will meet the needs of Charlotte County. Access includes direct involvement in the intellectual and cultural communities the university creates and nourishes.
The Charlotte Center reflects the University's interest in employing innovative ideas, methods, and technologies in the development and delivery of programs and services, both for credit and for non-credit experiences. The center pursues appropriate community-based public service activities and projects.
We encourage you to become active with the Center by enrolling in for-credit classes or by taking advantage of non-credit programs which can improve the quality of life. And please share your ideas and suggestions by calling us at 941-505-0130.
