The focus of The Writers' Society is to nurture the individual needs of the growing number of men and women who want to write. The goal is to create a collaborative, nurturing center where formal courses, lectures, and comfortable get-togethers help foster a sense of a writing community. Writing is not a solitary pursuit. The Writers' Society helps put writers in touch with one another while offering guidance and direction.

The anchor program at our center is the ten-week Success Camp for Writers. One may take one of the courses in the program or all of them, choosing what fits his or her writing needs. Courses include sessions on romance writing, dialogue, plot and character development, and other components of a successful manuscript.

Other classes will focus on the business end of writing, such as how to get paid for what you write. Beyond the Success Camp for Writers, the Writers' Society offers a variety of lectures and workshops. Attorney, Anne Dalton, offers lectures on copyright law and other legal issues; guest authors give talks on the writing craft and their work. The center also sponsors book signings and an annual literary marketplace.

For more information, please call 941-505-0130.
